"Sue Sherman is the 2012 Winner of the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Year Award for her dedication to the Town of Plaistow. She recently retired from teaching life science and literacy at the Timberlane Middle School where she taught for over 40 years. She served as the faculty advisor for National Honor Society and Student Senate while at the Middle School. She has been a strong role model in the Plaistow community for many years. Sueserved on past Old Home Day Committees. She was one of the original members of the Plaistow Recreation Commission. She has been dedicated to the town's recreation mission for many decades. Some of her accomplishments include being in the forefront for developing Plaistow Athletic Recreation Complex on Old County Road. She was a driving force in organizing and promoting the Plaistow Area Softball League. She coached at Timberlane High School as well. She mentored hundreds of young women to be skilled ball players and served to inspire them both on and off the ball field. SueSherman may be retired from her classroom, but she has since turned her passion and devotion to this town into her new job. She is an active member of the Recreation Commission, Recycle Committee, Elder Affairs Committee and continues to be a helpful mentor to me as the Friends of Plaistow Recreation president. She may be my former teacher and coach but she continues to be an inspiration to me both personally and professionally. She is a true Plaistownian. She loves her family and she loves her town. She deserves to be the Grand Marshal for 2014".
